VAN WERT, OH (WLIO) - Van Wert Firefighters battled an early Saturday morning house fire. The department was called out to 671 High Street just before 3 am. When they arrived, flames were seen coming from some of the windows and heavy smoke from around the house. Everyone was able to get out of the home before the firefighters arrived. Firefighters say a heater is the cause. The heater was off, and the fan was still blowing high air. The Van Wert CERT team was called in to help the family. The fire department was on the scene for about three hours getting everything under control. No one was injured during the fire, but firefighters did have to deal with snow and light ice while they fought the fire.
