The crimes reported here are preliminary investigations, taken in the field by deputies, and may or may not be assigned to a Detective for further investigation. The information provided may be found after further investigation to be incorrect or false. Certain details of these incidents have been removed due to potential follow-up investigation into the incident and/or for privacy rights.

Friday April 18, 2025

0256 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on West Main Street in the City of Van Wert to check the report of a suspicious person.

0316 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on Fisher Avenue in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

0535 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of State Route 116 in Ridge Township for a motor vehicle crash involving a deer, no injuries were reported.

0708 hrs. – Dispatched Wren EMS to a residence on Balliet Road in Harrison Township for a subject with chest pain.

0816 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of Lincoln Highway in Union Township for a complaint of a large amount of grass in the roadway.

0828 hrs. - Deputies responded to a location on Fisher Avenue in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

0838 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Burt Street in the City of Van Wert for a report of a loose dog.

1000 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Burris Road in Liberty Township for a complaint of trespassing.

1200 hrs. – Deputies along with Ohio City Fire and EMS responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on U.S. Route 224 in Pleasant Township. The incident was investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

1517 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of Garfield Street in the Village of Scott for a report of a loose dog.

1624 hrs. – Deputies served a warrant issued by a Paulding County Court for Probation Violation. Cody Joe Edwards age 34 was transferred to Paulding County Line and transferred to the custody of the Paulding County Sheriff.

1637 hrs. – Deputies along with Convoy Fire and EMS responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on North Main Street in the Village of Convoy. Unit One a 2005 Harley Davidson driven by John D. Miller of Convoy was traveling southbound on North Main Street in the Village of Convoy. Unit One was just north of Sponseller Street. Unit One then possibly had a mechanical malfunction with the rear tire of the motorcycle. Unit One then lost control. Unit One driver and passenger were possibly ejected from the motorcycle. Unit One driver was transported to Van Wert Health and Unit passenger was treated at the scene. The Convoy Police assisted on scene.

1720 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of State Route 118 in Liberty Township for a report of reckless driving.

1806 hrs. – Deputies responded to a commercial alarm on Spencerville Delphos Road in Washington Township.

1900 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of State Route 116 in Jennings Township for a report of a subject shooting from a vehicle.

2111 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on Fox Road in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

2157 hrs. – Dispatched Wren EMS to a residence on South Street in the Village of Wren for a subject who passed out.

Saturday April 19, 2025

0703 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residential alarm on Mendon Road in York Township.

0845 hrs. – Dispatched Convoy EMS to a residence on Wolfcale Road in Pleasant Township for a subject having difficulty breathing.

1141 hrs. – Dispatched Van Wert EMS to a location on Van Wert Decatur Road for a motor vehicle crash. The incident was investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

1232 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on State Route 81 in Willshire Township for a complaint of theft.

1330 hrs. – Dispatched Middle Point EMS to a residence on State Road in York Township for a subject who was ill.

1650 hrs. – Deputies along with Convoy Fire and EMS, and Van Wert EMS responded to a motor vehicle crash on Lincoln Highway in Pleasant Township. Two subjects were transported by EMS to Ohio Health. Unit One was a 218 Audi A3 driven by Mark Okoin of Columbus traveling north bound on Liberty Union Road at the Lincoln Highway intersection. Unit One then failed to yield at the stop sign and struck Unit 2 a 2020 Volkswagen Golf driven by Zed Wingrave of North Carolina who was traveling west bound on Lincoln Highway. Minor injuries were reported.

1824 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on East Ervin Road in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

1859 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on North Main Street in the Village of Middle Point for a loose dog.

1957 hrs. – Dispatched Ohio City EMS to a residence on South Shane Street in the Village of Ohio City for a subject having a seizure.
