WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — Food, fun and a few mimosas helped raise money for a good cause Saturday morning in Wapakoneta.
About 170 people attended the first-ever Brunch with Benefits fundraiser for the Wapakoneta Family YMCA. Music filled the venue as guests danced and enjoyed brunch, all while supporting the local YMCA’s mission.
Organizers said they were grateful for the strong community turnout. Proceeds from the event will go toward the YMCA’s scholarship program, which helps make memberships and services accessible to families in need.
“And that goes to people in the community that maybe cannot afford a membership, need help with childcare, want some swim lessons. So, it's a great way to get involved and have a good time. We are about youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. So, today we're going to have a great time. People be up and dancing, burning some calories, having a good time,” says Liz Davis, Dir. of Member Engagement, Wapakoneta Family YMCA.
Davis said those interested in future events should follow the Wapak Y’s social media pages for updates on upcoming Brunch with Benefits fundraisers.
