The Lima Fire Department and friends held a special benefit rally for one of their own Saturday afternoon.
Jeremy Welker has been with the Lima Fire Department for the last 19 years and was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. Â In order to help out his family with surgery and chemotherapy costs, the LFD and friends of the Welker family held a poker run and sold a few t-shirts. Â Jeremy and his wife Sheri say that they've felt nothing but blessed with all of the support.
"There's been so many people helping and donating and helping in all kinds of ways," said Jeremy.
"It's overwhelming because there are people here that we don't even know, and people that have donated things and we don't know them, but they know our need and have given, and it's just a huge blessing," Sheri said.
The rally also had raffle items and a cornhole tournament.
