DAYTON, Ohio (WLIO) — The undefeated Ottawa-Glandorf Titans came up just short of a state title, falling to the defending champion Portsmouth Trojans 53-48 in the Division V state championship at University of Dayton Arena.

Ottawa-Glandorf started strong in the opening quarter behind Madison McKee. The junior recorded 10 points in the first quarter alone, finishing the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Titans held a 15-14 lead after one.

In the second quarter, Findlay commit Karsyn Erford came up with a loose ball and pulled up for a jumper, but Portsmouth surged ahead. The Trojans outscored Ottawa-Glandorf 17-9 in the period to take a seven-point lead into halftime.

The Titans faced an eight-point deficit in the third quarter before Erford knocked down a three-pointer to keep the game within reach.

Ottawa-Glandorf continued chipping away in the fourth quarter. Alivia Grothaus drove to the basket for two, and moments later Savannah Recker scored off the glass to cut the deficit to 45-43.

Gracie Lammers then drained a three-pointer to make it a one-point game at 47-46. Later, Recker found Erford for another bucket as she finished with a team-high 18 points.
