John Payne entered in his petition for the open seat at the Allen County Board of Elections. Payne currently presides over cases ranging from felony preliminary hearings to traffic violations in addition to the civil docket. The judge magistrate also presides over the city's veterans treatment court. Payne says that he aims to improve accountability when it comes to the court system.

All Ohio State and Michigan fans were ready to watch the big game on Saturday.  But for one group, the party was taken to a whole new level.   Fresh n Faded and the Allen County Board of DD teamed up for an event called “Hang Time.” Not only were these fans able to root for the Buckeye and Wolverines, but also have some great game time food and show off some of their best dance moves during some of the down time.   The Allen County Board of DD wanted put on an event were their clients and the community can come together and have some fun, but also raise some awareness too.

Zion Lutheran Church says they saw well over 100 voters within the first two hours. The Allen County Board of Elections says voting is going smoothly so far with the usual minor glitches. Voters are reminded to have some form of ID and know what they are voting for. Along with the highly contested gubernatorial race and two statewide issues, there are a couple issues on the local level as well.

The Allen County Board of Elections reports that they have sent over 5,000 absentee ballots this election cycle and have received a little more than 4,000 back. So far as of Friday afternoon, 3,732 residents have cast their votes in person. Those who still have to turn in their absentee ballot must do so quickly in order to have their votes counted.

Requesting a ballot couldn't be easier, but voters will occasionally mail in their request forms with an incorrect date of birth, sometimes putting down the current date instead. In some cases, voters will fill out all the information and fail to provide a signature. Although providing an email or phone number isn't required, the board of elections strongly recommends doing so in order to contact you in a timely manner if your application is incomplete.
