To become a county commissioner, applicants must be at least 18 years old, a registered Republican voter, and a resident of Allen County. To apply, resumes should be sent to the Republican office at 3111 West Elm Street, Lima, OH 45805 or emailed to republicans@allencountyohiogop.com.

Former Allen County Sheriff Dan Beck is running as an independent and is claiming that he is being denied the ability to get certain financial information regarding the county to prepare for an upcoming debate. On September 22nd Beck contacted County Auditor Rachael Gilroy about scheduling a 45-minute meeting only to hear back on September 25th that she is not available until October 14th or after. Beck finds that odd as the Lima Allen County Neighborhood in Partnership’s debate is on October 13th.

Alberta Lee was honored with the inaugural Drs. Earl and Nancy Keese Community Leadership Award. President Dr. Cynthia Spiers says Lee's name came right to mind when determining the award winner. Lee has dedicated her life to Allen County and Rhodes State College. She has served in a number of capacities like an Allen County Commissioner. For the college, she's involved with the Rhodes State College Foundation Board and had a direct hand in bringing the new Center for Health Science Education building to downtown Lima.

It’s official, Allen County has a new commissioner. Beth Seibert was sworn in this morning by 3rd District Court of Appeals Judge John Williamowski. She will be filling the unexpired term of Commissioner Jay Begg who had to step aside due to medical reasons. Shortly after being sworn in Seibert was at the table for her first meeting as commissioner. She says she's ready to hit the ground running.
