Local area residents have reported receiving calls from individuals claiming to be from the Find A Ride Program soliciting donations. The Find A Ride Program and Area Agency on Aging 3 does not contact via phone to solicit donations. Please do not give bank or credit card information to anyone over the phone that claim to be seeking donations on behalf of Find A Ride or the Area Agency on Aging 3.

The Area Agency on Aging, United Way of Greater Lima, and Mental Health and Recovery Services are asking the Allen County Commissioners to consider providing ten thousand dollars a year for three years due to a growing need for the service. Allen County 211 received 2,600 calls in the last year and these organizations want to ensure the national program can stay established on a local level.

The Area Agency on Aging 3 will be hosting a Falls Prevention Awareness Day on Thursday, September 22nd from 9 am-12 pm at 2423 Allentown Road, Lima. Several community partners will be in attendance to educate, increase awareness, and help provide resources on falls and fall prevention for our older adults.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office will be accepting for the Drug Take Back: over-the-counter medications, pharmaceuticals, vitamins, and supplements to be disposed of properly. They cannot accept needles and liquids. Please bring items in a sealed bag. Drug disposal is free and open to the public. In addition to the Drug Take Back Day, AAA3 will also be conducting secure shredding of documents. Shredding of items will be done by WiltonKeck. Shredding is free and open to anyone living in Hardin County.

Through the AmeriCorps Seniors program, the agency is hoping to get some senior volunteers out into the community. There is an umbrella of activities that they can do under the program but they are looking to help other local agencies needing some extra hands.

The Area Agency on Aging 3 is inviting people out to a Drug Take Back event on Monday morning. The agency will be setting up a drive-thru style event where people can drop off old medications and prescriptions for free.
