Area car enthusiasts gathered Friday evening for the Buckeye Cruisers’ “End of Summer Cruise-In” at Buffalo Wild Wings in Lima.
“It’s going to be a adventure through Lima to explore the local Lima history. There are going to be placards mounted downtown and various areas throughout the city. You will be able to find information about the trail on visitgreaterlima.com and we will also have a table set up at Third Thursdays where you can get some hands on in person experience as well,” said Cricket Rodriguez, executive director of Downtown Lima.

“I really think people underestimate the taste of downtown,” said Cricket Rodriguez. “We have restaurants who are really offering great items for only $5, so you can come down with your spouse, with a friend, with your family, and walk around and get to try samples of folks’ menu for only $5.”
The third Thursday of the month will now be bringing the party to Downtown Lima. Downtown Lima Inc. kicked off their first Third Thursdays event this week - which aims to highlight the new features of downtown to residents.
“The Taste of Downtown is absolutely brand new,” said Cricket Rodriguez, executive director of Downtown Lima Inc. “We have nine participating locations that are going to be offering you a special taste of their menu for only $5, so they're making you something special.”
The weather was perfect Friday evening for car enthusiasts to show off their sweet rides for two good causes! Buckeye Cruisers hosted a special Friday Night Cruise at Central District Lima in downtown Friday evening with a variety of muscle, sports, and historical cars out for display. The cruise in was all for two good causes in Allen County raising funds via donations and a 50-50 raffle to benefit the Allen County Veterans Food Pantry and Deb's Dogs. Donations of food and pet supplies were also welcomed. Organizers say the event is all about community and supporting one another.
The group hosted the cruise-in after their car shows were canceled from the coronavirus which consists of sports cars, classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and lowriders from different parts of the state, and even out of state. The event included a food vendor, the You Matter tent, and a 50/50 raffle with half of the proceeds going to Deb’s Dogs, which is a cause near and dear to the group.
