July 26, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: Richland Township – On July 25, 2024, at approximately 11:55 PM, troopers with the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were on routine patrol when a trooper identified a vehicle that had been reported stolen traveling north on Interstate Route 75. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen by the Lima Police Department. A traffic stop was initiated with the 2017 Chevrolet Impala, and the driver of the stolen vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol along with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office were able to end a high speed pursuit Saturday morning without any injury.
Matthew Manns has made his initial appearance in court for events that happened over the July 4th holiday weekend. Police say Manns took sheriff's deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle that he took after threatening the owner with physical harm. The chase lasted about 15 minutes at a high rate of speed. Stop sticks were used and the car came to rest in a cornfield in Hardin County.
Press Release from the Allen County Sheriff's Office: On July 3, 2020 at approximately 9:26 PM, the homeowners of 527 Fenway Dr. Lima, Ohio, were alerted to a commotion outside their residence, by their dogs. At that time, they observed an unknown white male, later identified as Matthew T. Manns, entering their detached garage. When the male homeowner walked outside to confront Matthew, he found Matthew was now standing in their driveway and was attempting to enter their truck parked in the driveway.
More details are being released about the high-speed chase on Tuesday through Allen and Van Wert counties. The man driving the semi-tractor that led police on a two hour chase was Terry “Rusty" Pierce Jr. He is known to have lived in Spencerville. We now know the semi he was driving was in fact stolen from Van Wert County. That may have been the criminal complaint Spencerville Police referred to when they tried to pull Pierce over Tuesday morning. He proceeded to drive around Allen County before taking a trip on U.S 30 into Van Wert County.
A man in a semi-truck strung along police for hours and threatened innocent people. A Spencerville area man refused to pull over when the Spencerville Police Department attempted a traffic stop. What ensued was a nearly two-hour chase resulting in the man’s death.
An Indiana man is in custody after leading Allen County law enforcement in a high-speed chase Wednesday night. 30-year-old Jonathan Cole of Fort Wayne has been charged with failure to comply and receiving stolen property after was arrested in following the pursuit. Around 10 o'clock, Allen County sheriff deputies pulled Cole over in the 200 hundred block of Union Street in Lima. Cole took off and headed towards Spencerville, with speeds reaching 95 miles per hour.
