“It’s basically everything that’s going on in Lima in the ’30s, but also what’s going on around the nation,” said Hannah Bergstedt, Public Engagement and Learning Coordinator at the Lima Public Library. “I think we all know the Great Depression — that’s what the 1930s are known for. But there were other things going on. And actually, Lima did better than a lot of communities during that time because of all of our industry, so we’ll be talking about all of that.”
Today, the Lima Public Library kicked off their summer reading program.

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima Noon Optimist Club's Home Show is back for another year.
It comes once a year, and hundreds come out in support. The St. Rita's Holiday Street Fair is the biggest fundraiser that the Mercy Health-St. Rita's Auxiliary holds. Volunteers spend hours creating hundreds of holiday decorations. There is also a basket raffle of a variety of items donated by the medical center's departments. All monies raised go towards the organization's pledge, and organizers say it is a great fundraiser.
For nearly 50 years, the St. Rita's Auxiliary and volunteers have been helping people out during the Christmas season as they raise money to help the medical center. This Thursday, December 4, 2024, they will be holding their annual Holiday Street Fair. There will be homemade crafts and decorations, dog treats, and items for sale. There is also a cookie walk and a country kitchen to stock up on holiday sweets. Plus, they will have a veterans' table for people to get information.
