LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — With summer just around the corner, sign-ups have already begun for the Lima Family YMCA’s summer camp.

The 11-week camp runs from June through August, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each week features a unique theme with games, crafts, and activities related to it. Participants also receive daily gym and pool time, and lunches are provided through the Lima City Schools Summer Lunch Program. The camp is open to children ages 6 to 12.

“There's a lot of parents rely on our day camps throughout the summer, and alot the kids have a lot of fun with them,” said Terri Averesch, vice president of the Lima Family YMCA. “We’ve had some parents leave their older kids at home that they're a little bit older and they think they can stay at home, and then the middle of the summer they ask may we please get in. Sometimes we’re full, so I encourage people to register early.”

The YMCA is also seeking two additional camp counselors. Applicants must be out of high school and can apply at the YMCA’s front desk.
