It was a welcoming day for the employees at Ohio offices, including Lima's, to the Enbridge company. The Canadian-based company finalized its purchase of the Ohio operations on March 7th. The Lima operation has been serving local customers for 137 years and has had many different owners over that time.

Police are currently looking for a driver that fled the scene after their car hit a gas line in Lima. According to the Lima Police Department, a driver was heading northbound on Central Avenue when they struck the gas line at the corner of 4th Street and Central.

April is National Safe Digging Month and Dominion Energy reminds people it's more important than ever to call before you dig. Dominion asks that anyone planning to do any digging on their property to call the number 811. Dominion will come out, free of charge, to mark the utility lines in the area of your project. You just have to call at least two days before you start digging. A representative of Dominion said it's a good time for this reminder. The weather has been warmer and people are at home looking for something to do.

Dominion Energy Ohio reports that a small number of Lima customers will receive this month’s gas bill in a social security administration envelope. This was due to a third-party vendor error, but the contents of the envelope are legitimate and customers are safe to pay their bills using the enclosed return envelope or through another preferred payment method. If customers have any questions they should contact Dominion Energy’s call center at 1-800-362-7557.

Two homes were evacuated in Delphos today for what the fire chief said could have been a bad scenario.

According to Delphos Fire officials, one home in the 500 block of North Street and the home behind it were evacuated due to a gas leak. Dominion Energy was conducting a routine gas check this morning when the leak was discovered. It took about four hours to get under control before residents were allowed back into their homes. AEP shutdown the power in the area as a precaution and Dominion planned to be on scene through the afternoon.

The American Red Cross and Dominion Energy teamed up to quiz Chief Supermarket shoppers on their safety savvy. The duo held a Preparedness Day in at the Cable Road Chief Supermarket, where they spend a couple of hours seeing how much shoppers knew about their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and the warning signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

100,000 pounds of food will be finding its way into area pantries thanks to a major donation. As part of their Critical Community Needs Grant, Dominion Energy has given $10,000 to the West Ohio Food Bank. That donation will provide 10,000 pounds of food into 10 counties.
