They will be joining their current garage area with the adjacent Central Street lot to add more space to park and work on vehicles and a bus wash. A new Lima loop will also begin next year when the downtown amphitheater opens for events so that transport to and from the venue is easier and people don't have to walk.
A two-alarm house fire in Bath Township overnight heavily damaged a two-car garage.
Corner of Wayne and Union being looked at for possible garage site for Allen Co. Veterans Commission
The Allen County Land Bank has ownership of the property at the corner of Wayne and Union, where they were able to demolish this old building leaving a usable lot. County commissioners are looking to build a new structure that will accommodate the Allen County Veterans Commission vehicles and are interested in this site.
Shawnee High School students were spotted walking the halls as they came to pick up their Chromebooks and workbooks, along with taking their school pictures. Students can pick up their materials throughout the week between 8 and 11 a.m. or 1 to 2:30 p.m. The return day for students is coming up on August 25th. We spoke with students who are eager to begin a new year, and finally without the weight of COVID restrictions.
It is a program that has been helping clients of Allen County Children Services for years. The un-garage sale is a chance for those that the agency assists to come in and get clothing and housewares for free. The items are all donated and the program has grown over the years.
June 11th is the last of the “Mayor’s Spring Clean-Up” initiative. During the last three Saturdays, 195 people brought items to dumpster locations. They brought 378-loads to fill 34-dumpsters and were helped by 83 volunteers. There will be six sites for drop off giving you no excuse not to do a little spring cleaning.
With one cleanup in the books, the City of Lima is eager to continue the cleanup for the next 3 weekends.
This Saturday kicks off the mayor of Lima's first spring clean-up.
Park Program Leader Kelsey Pughsley adds, “This year it will be Games, activities, fieldtrip, pretty much similar to the years in the past. Our bowling and skating field trips are always a big hot. We’re trying to bring in as many people from the community in to do different activities with the kids through out the day just to keep them busy and active.”
First responders were called to a garage fire at around 2 p.m. on the 1000 block of Front Street. Upon arrival the fire spread to other parts of the house. According to the Alger Assistant Fire Chief no one was injured, and everyone made it out, but they believe the home will be considered a total loss.
