LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Plans are in the works for a garage to house veterans' vehicles.
The Allen County Land Bank has ownership of the property at the corner of Wayne and Union, where they were able to demolish an old building leaving a usable lot. Allen County commissioners are looking to build a new structure that will accommodate the Allen County Veterans Commission's vehicles and are interested in the site.
"This was our first step in constructing a potential building for our veterans. Twofold, one, is to house their vehicles, plus we want to create a lobby area where the veterans can come in during inclement weather. There will be bathrooms in there, heated, so they can get out of the weather while they are waiting for their rides to their appointments," explained Brian Winegardner, Allen County Commissioner.
No word yet on a timeline for the project.
