Fathers day is just around the corner, and there is still time for you to find the perfect gift for dad. Midwest Shooting Center in Cridersville is currently running a promotion where fathers get to shoot for free with a current member or guest.
The parking lot at the shooting center in Cridersville was filled with giant blow-up bounce houses and slides for a Memorial Day celebration.
Midwest Shooting Center offered a "Night Ops" course for local residents on Saturday. Residents were able to participate in several different game modes to test their nighttime skills using training ammo fired from real firearms.
Even through the rain on Saturday, people in the community came out to enjoy the block party. There were a handful of food trucks selling goodies, and free face painting inside.

For the second year in a row, Wright State Lake Police Cadets trained at the Midwest Shooting Center. But this year they've switched it up a bit. Police cadets trained with the K-9s from the New Bremen K-9 unit. They worked on several training techniques with the arm sleeve. They also worked on obedience training and other k-9 training. During the rest of the training, the cadets went through arrest scenarios. The academy is happy to partner up with the New Bremen K-9 unit because it better prepares the students.
The last year has been a whirlwind and a local business can’t thank the community enough for their support. The Midwest Shooting Center in Cridersville opened its doors and ranges last year in mid-March. The response has been overwhelming, and the center is planning an anniversary celebration. They have made it a priority to give back to the people who have made them successful the past year.
Cadets from one local police academy got the opportunity to train at a new, state-of-the-art facility, becoming one of the first groups ever to experience these real-life scenarios.
“When we heard about Midwest and the new facility we were very excited about it because in today’s world scenario-base training is key to teaching our young officers how to behave and respond in dangerous situations,” said Mark Ernst, Wright State Lake campus Police Academy commander.
