According to court documents, the trial was scheduled to start on September 6th, but will now be pushed back until October 24th, because the court needs more time. Around 30 subpoenas have been issued to people that could testify in the trial.
56-year-old Timothy Kohlhorst was indicted on charges of rape, gross sexual imposition, sexual battery, abduction, and burglary. Court documents say the offense happened at the beginning of the month. In September, Kohlhorst will be taken to the Forensic Psychiatry Center in Dayton for an evaluation.
The Van Wert County Grand Jury charged 24-year-old Elias Lugo with two counts of rape and two counts of sexual battery. According to the indictment, the alleged offense occurred in February of 2022 and the female victim was unable to give consent. Lugo was arraigned this week on the charges and has a pretrial hearing scheduled for the end of the month.
A Lima man who was indicted on child pornography charges in 2020 has now been sentenced in Allen County Court. 48-year-old Daniel Bettis was sentenced to four years in jail after he took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to four counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance.
33-year-old Matthew Brown was found guilty on all counts in his case, which included nine counts of rape, seven counts of sexual battery, two counts of gross sexual imposition, and one count of attempted rape. According to an indictment, Brown had sexual contact with a child that was 12 years old at the time of the offense in 2020.
