Co-owner Michael Bouson spoke at the Lima Rotary Club on Monday, updating them about renovations and what is in store as they reopen the theater. The building is owned and operated by "Play with your Food LLC". The owners gave the company this name as they see eating and having a good time should go together. Plans include a piano bar, bakery, and dinner theater.
The Ohio Theatre is inching closer to officially reopening as renovation efforts have entered the final stage. The Friends of the Ohio Theatre, a group spearheading restoration efforts, say that final touches will take place over the next month. Some in the group have been a part of the Ohio Theatre's history, such as Kevin Tisher, who has previously worked at the Ohio Theatre before it was shut down. Tisher says that he is looking forward to Lima residents both old and new to experiencing the venue again.
The “new” Ohio Theatre will not only offer food, drinks, and entertainment but it will be a visual experience as well. Details are being made to bring the building back to its heyday when it opened in 1928. A mural by local artist Mike Huffman will take you back to a time of Jazz and gin with this period piece that use to be common.

Painted on canvas, four murals on the walls of the Ohio Theatre have been with the building since it was built in 1927. However, for about thirty years, the murals were obscured, and work is being done now to restore these murals and showcase them. The 30 minute tours will give people a behind the scenes look at how the theatre is being transformed, and people will even be able to ask questions along the way.

While doing their cleaning of the theatre, the owners discovered what they're calling "hidden treasures". And those treasures will be up for sale this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A lot of historical items were found that might bring back nostalgia of the theatre's early days. You'll see some housewares, home décor and large furniture up for grabs. All the money will go towards emergency repairs of the theatre. The new owners have a plan for the theatre, but no renovations can begin until a critical piece is fixed.
