The West Ohio Food Bank opened its doors to local, state, and federal legislators on Monday. Lima mayor Sharetta Smith, Allen County commissioner Cory Noonan, and representatives from Congressmen Latta's and Jordan's offices were in attendance. They toured the facility, saw a monthly food distribution, and heard from food bank administrators about the need for additional funding to meet the needs of area residents to put food on the table. With the farm bill still at a standstill, food bank officials say they need funding and program updates.

Apollo students got to show off what they are doing in their classes to their grandparents today. Around 400 grandparents came to Apollo Career Center Wednesday afternoon to visit the labs and classrooms to see the various projects and skills they are learning. Grandparents' Day is a long-standing tradition at Apollo and helps the students show how proud they are of their work to the people who are always proud of them.

More money, we just need more money. That was the message to United States Congressman Jim Jordan at the West Ohio Food Bank on Monday. Local and state food bank representatives got the congressman's ear as they gave him a tour of the facility. There is food on the shelves but more is needed to feed the increasing number of people facing food insecurity.

History buffs took the streets Tuesday night in Downtown Wapakoneta to learn more about the rich history of the Auglaize County seat. The Auglaize County Historical Society hosted tours beginning at the Auglaize County Municipal Court and took local residents through Downtown Wapak to learn about some of the buildings they may drive by every single day. The tour included stops at the local post office and the Wapa Theatre as well as various shops and restaurants along East Auglaize Street, and the goal is to let residents learn something new about the city they live in.

Congressman Jim Jordan received an up-close look at the University of Northwestern Ohio today. Jordan met with university officials to get a tour of multiple buildings and programs that UNOH has to offer, including the robotics program, the diesel and agriculture program, and the high-performance racing program. Jordan was shown some of the milestones that the university has reached with its large alumni influence in stock car racing as well as monster trucks.
