LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — High school students from across the region had the opportunity to explore potential careers in engineering during an event at Ohio State Lima’s Engineering and Manufacturing Center, located at the Lima Ford Engine Plant.
Students toured the facility, engaged with faculty, and participated in hands-on demonstrations. Organizers emphasized the importance of showcasing educational opportunities that are available close to home.

“The students who attend Ohio State Lima can start any of those engineering programs with us, and then we also have the engineering technology program, which is a four-year degree that's only offered on the Ohio State regional campuses,” said Georgia Bass, director of enrollment. “So our students here at Lima get to benefit from that degree, and our students go out into industry and have wonderful careers.”
As part of the event, students also worked in teams to build catapults designed to launch buckeyes, adding a fun, interactive element to their engineering exploration.
