Lima City Council held a regular meeting on Monday Night and approved legislation that is part of a new multi-million dollar hotel project in Lima. Council approved the construction of a "Home2 Suites" extended-stay hotel located at South Leonard Avenue in Lima through the support of a 15-year property tax abatement of 50% for the City of Lima, Perry Local Schools, and the Apollo Career Center.

Allen County's Emergency Management Agency director giving commissioners an update on plans for what some officials say could double or triple the population of the region. The center point of complete totality is in Hardin County at the village of Forest. Lima is in the line of near totality and discussions have been had with safety services to make sure all agencies are manned during the eclipse in case of an emergency.

The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park Districts campground opened today. It’s located at the Ottawa Metro Park on Ada Road near the Farm Park. It boasts 30 family campsites with 3 handicap accessible. They are on a first come first serve basis with self-registration. As the season gets underway there are plenty of family activities to take advantage of at the campground.

With the approval of a 50% 10-year property tax abatement, a Holiday Inn and Suites will be located on the 2.6-acres of land just east the Applebee’s. This Enterprise Zone agreement is with Lima Partners, LLC who is heading up the new motel project and economic development officials say it’s going to be good for the county.
