ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) — Holiday tournament action was on display at the Elida Fieldhouse as Allen East and Lima Senior met in a rematch of last year’s championship game at the annual Vicki Mauk Holiday Classic.
Both teams entered the matchup searching for their fifth win of the season, but it was the defending champion Mustangs who controlled the pace early.
In the first quarter, Allen East set the tone with strong work on the glass, highlighted by a rebound and putback from sophomore Daniyah Denson. The Mustangs continued to build momentum in the second quarter when senior Rylie Jordan jumped a passing lane for a steal and coast-to-coast layup to make it 15–8.
Later in the half, Jordan connected with junior Brooklynn Crumrine, who knocked down a three-pointer as part of a game-high 26-point performance. Crumrine then returned the favor with a long outlet pass to Jordan for an easy bucket, helping Allen East take a 27–10 lead into halftime.
Lima Senior continued to battle in the second half. Angie Kohlhofer worked her way to the rim for two of her 10 points, while Khaliah Luster added a three-pointer to show the Spartans’ range from beyond the arc.
Allen East answered every run by sharing the ball on offense. Junior Evelyn Lehman poured in 15 points, and Brynn Richardson added a strong drive to the basket as the Mustangs pulled away down the stretch.
Allen East secured a 59–40 victory, advancing to the championship game against Elida of the Vicki Mauk Holiday Classic.
