SPENCERVILLE (WLIO) — Coldwater delivered an out-of-conference win on the girls side, knocking off Spencerville 58-51 as the Cavaliers capitalized on timely shooting and balance throughout the night.
Late in the second quarter, Coldwater built momentum behind Harlow Heyne, who worked inside, took one dribble and rose up for a basket to give the Cavaliers a 22-14 lead.
Spencerville responded on the other end, as Eilan Muniz drove and set up Briley Cook for a finish to keep the Bearcats within striking distance. Just before halftime, Coldwater moved the ball around the perimeter, finding Brylee Knapke beyond the arc. Her three-pointer sent the Cavaliers into the break with the advantage.
In the third quarter, Spencerville began to chip away. Crisp ball movement led to a Tatum Schwartz layup that pulled the Bearcats within six.
Coldwater answered quickly. Freshman Brielle Dingledine stepped into a three-pointer, restoring breathing room for the Cavaliers.
Coldwater held off the late push from Spencerville down the stretch, securing the 58-51 victory.
