CONVOY, Ohio (WLIO) — It was a marquee volleyball matchup between two defending league champions, as Coldwater visited Crestview in a battle of the Midwest Athletic Conference and Northwest Conference.
The Cavaliers came out strong in the opening set, with senior Mia Knapke catching the defense off guard on a no-look return. Coldwater took the first set 25-19.
Crestview tried to rally in the second. Emily Lichtle placed one over the net to cut into the deficit, while Delanie Balliet followed with a service ace to keep the Lady Knights within striking distance.
But Coldwater’s attack proved too much. Paige Ontrop and Mara Riethman teamed up for big plays at the net, helping the Cavaliers secure the sweep.
The night was extra special for head coach Nikki Etzler, who celebrated her 200th career victory leading the Cavs. Final score: Coldwater 3, Crestview 0.
