COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove’s volleyball team earned its first win of the season with a sweep over Arlington on Tuesday night at home.
After dropping their opener, the Bulldogs responded in front of their home crowd by taking down the Red Devils in straight sets, 25-21, 25-16, 25-23.
Sophomore Aubrey Schroeder helped fuel the Grove rally in the opening set, cutting into an early Arlington lead with strong play at the net. Arlington battled back behind junior Ellie Marquart’s serving, including an ace, and a powerful finish from Callie Hartman.
But the Bulldogs seized control late, with freshman Lydia Sarka capping the first set and providing key points throughout the night to keep Grove in front.
Columbus Grove moves to 1-1 with the win, while Arlington falls to 1-1 on the season.
