WAYNESFIELD, Ohio — After tying for third place in the Northwest Central Conference last fall, Waynesfield-Goshen is looking to take the next step in 2025 — and they’ll do it with a young core and a new quarterback.
The Tigers closed 2024 on a five-game win streak, bouncing back after early losses to the NWCC’s top two teams. But for the second consecutive season, their playoff run was cut short in Week 11.
Now entering year three under head coach Chris Sommers, W-G returns five starters on both sides of the ball and welcomes a new face under center — freshman Corbin Barnes, who will lead the offense from day one.
The Tigers open the season at Mississinawa Valley, then host Ada, before setting their sights on redemption against Upper Scioto Valley and Hardin Northern — two teams that handed them league losses last season.
With nine seniors gone, Sommers is focused on development, growth, and staying the course as Waynesfield-Goshen pushes forward in 2025.
