MINSTER — Two seven-win teams squared off Friday night in Minster, and Fort Recovery proved why it has been one of the toughest road teams in the conference, pulling away for a 63-51 win over the Wildcats.
Fort Recovery entered the matchup a perfect 4-0 away from home, while Minster was searching for its first conference victory of the season.
The Indians set the tone early as Colson Post buried a 3-pointer off a cross-court pass to give Fort Recovery an early spark. Brody Barga followed with a second-chance basket to push the Indians out to a four-point edge.
Minster responded with a stretch of efficient offense. Dominick Meyer drove the lane and finished off the glass, igniting the Wildcats. That momentum continued when sophomore Beckham Stephey knocked down a wide-open corner 3, followed by a deep triple from senior Cole McClurg, who led Minster with 17 points on the night.
Despite Minster’s push, Fort Recovery took control in the second half behind junior Breaker Jutte. Jutte consistently found his way to the basket and finished with a game-high 20 points as the Indians gradually extended their lead.
Fort Recovery’s balanced attack and late surge proved too much to overcome, as the Indians closed out the 63-51 victory to remain unbeaten on the road.
