FINDLAY (WLIO)— Liberty-Benton handed Ada its first loss of the season with a 3-0 sweep in Blanchard Valley Conference play, winning 25-19, 25-15, 25-16.
Ada struck first behind Jaylin St. Laurent’s opening-set ace, and the Bulldogs kept battling early as St. Laurent set up Alivia Gibson for a finish to edge ahead 5-4. Liberty-Benton answered with freshman Emilia Kin finding the floor as both teams traded points through the middle of the set.
The turning point came late in the first when junior Corra DeHart delivered a kill to put the Eagles ahead 17-16. From there, Liberty-Benton controlled the pace the rest of the way. Senior Sadie Barnes added a late point as the Eagles closed out the sweep.
The win improves Liberty-Benton to 4-1 while Ada drops to 5-1.
