LIMA — Lima Central Catholic started its volleyball season on a strong note, defeating crosstown rival Lima Senior in straight sets on Tuesday night.
The T-Birds took control early, winning the first two sets before closing out the match 25-13, 25-18, 25-21. Senior Tatum Miller set the tone in the third set with a key block that pushed LCC ahead 19-11.
Lima Senior responded with defensive stops of its own, including a block from Angie Kohlhofer that gave the Spartans a boost. Freshman Deilah Gaines-Romick added energy with a powerful kill that trimmed the deficit to six.
But LCC kept its composure down the stretch. Carolina Kill closed the match with a pair of decisive plays at the net, including the final point to seal the sweep.
With the victory, the T-Birds continued their strong run in the city rivalry while Lima Senior looks to regroup for the next match.
