LIMA — Lincolnview entered Friday night looking to do something it hadn’t done in more than a decade, and the Lancers delivered.
Lincolnview knocked off Lima Central Catholic 61-45, snapping a nine-game skid against the Thunderbirds and earning its first win over LCC since 2008 in Northwest Conference play.
The two programs have met 11 times since 2006, with Lima Central Catholic winning 10 of those matchups prior to Friday. Lincolnview, coming in 3-0, faced a 3-1 Thunderbirds squad determined to protect its recent dominance.
The third quarter provided the spark. LCC’s Jordan Priddy jumped a passing lane and brought the crowd to its feet with a steal and emphatic dunk. But Lincolnview answered on the other end, as Max Hammons finished through contact to give the Lancers a three-point edge.
Later in the quarter, Xavier Pernell powered through a defender to put Lima Central Catholic briefly back in front, but momentum shifted again heading into the fourth.
Trailing 47-39, Priddy delivered another highlight with a bucket plus the foul, converting the free throw to pull the Thunderbirds within five. Priddy finished with 28 points on the night.
Lincolnview closed the door late. Chayse Overholt knocked down a key three-pointer as the Lancers pulled away in the final minutes, sealing the program’s long-awaited breakthrough against LCC.
The win marked Lincolnview’s first victory over Lima Central Catholic since 2008, with the Lancers closing out the 61-45 decision.
