Lincolnview stays perfect in conference play with road win over Columbus Grove

COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio (WLIO) — Lincolnview stayed perfect in conference play Friday night, knocking off Columbus Grove 61-56 on the road.
The Lancers entered the night at 10-2 overall and looking to snap an eight-game losing streak against the Bulldogs. Columbus Grove came in 5-4 and made sure Lincolnview had to earn it.
The game turned into a back-and-forth battle in the second half. Columbus Grove took a brief lead when senior Trevon Baxter spun to the basket for two, putting the Bulldogs up 30-29. Lincolnview responded quickly as Max Hammons found Gavin Evans for a bucket. Evans finished the night with 14 points.
With the score tied at 37, Baxter came up with a steal and converted on the other end. The senior totaled 16 points. Grove continued to apply pressure as Brady Basinger drew contact and converted an and-one. Basinger led the Bulldogs with 18 points.
Lincolnview answered once again. Freshman Marshall Hammons picked up a bucket and the foul with the game tied at 41, finishing with 15 points.
In the fourth quarter, Max Hammons delivered in the clutch. The junior glided to the rim for another and-one, finishing with a game-high 20 points and helping the Lancers pull away late.
Lincolnview held on down the stretch to secure the 61-56 win and remain unbeaten in conference play.
