ST. HENRY, OH (WLIO) — Marion Local’s historic win streak was in jeopardy Friday night, but a second-half surge fueled by timely defense and clutch passing helped the Flyers rally past St. Henry 21-14, extending their remarkable winning streak to 67 games. Trailing 14-7 at halftime, head coach Tim Goodwin’s Flyers responded immediately in the third quarter. On the opening possession, senior Max Ranly came up with a critical interception, swinging the momentum in Marion Local’s favor. Moments later, quarterback Brennen Hess delivered a third-down strike to Brayden Mescher, who made a contested catch that stood after official review. The pair connected again later in the drive for the game-tying touchdown, knotting the score at 14 apiece late in the third quarter. After the Flyers’ defense forced a punt, Marion Local took the lead for good in the fourth. Hess found senior receiver Cale Nagel behind the defense for a 35-yard touchdown pass, capping a 14-0 second-half run. The victory marks Marion Local’s 19th consecutive win over St. Henry and keeps their undefeated season intact. The Flyers (3-0) now turn their attention to next week as they continue their pursuit of a state title and push the win streak even further.
