DELPHOS — The race to the Lima Junior Golf Tournament of Champions is heating up with only three events remaining, and Thursday’s Bach Promotional Open at the Delphos Country Club delivered another round of tight competition and leaderboard shakeups.
Convoy native Matthew Dealey claimed the boys title after firing four birdies en route to a 1-under round. His win vaults him to the top of the season standings. Allen East senior Levi Clum nearly holed out from 100 yards during a playoff, edging Ottoville’s Evan Altenburger to take runner-up honors. Both shot even par in regulation. Ottawa’s Tyler Heckman also impressed, finishing 2-over in a four-way tie for fourth.
On the girls side, Graham senior Zoey Merritt remained dominant. The future Ashland Eagle earned her seventh tournament win of the season with an even-par round, highlighted by a smooth chip-in. Parkway’s Shay Boroff finished runner-up at 85, while Riley Donnelly of Graham secured third with an 88.
The LJGA heads into its final stretch with Merritt and Dealey leading their respective divisions heading into next week’s events.
