St. John's football facing possible 9-game season

DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) - The start of the high school football season is less than two months away.  For most teams, it's the beginning of a ten-game regular season.

For Delphos St. John's, they're facing the real possibility of a nine-game season this fall.

The Blue Jays are still searching for an opponent for week two of the season.  Head coach and athletic director Todd Schulte said given St. John's traditional strength, the fact they've won two of the last three Division VI State championships, and captured last fall's state title over Shadyside in record fashion 77-6, teams are unwilling to pick up the a game with the Jays.

He said a possible deal for a week two game is in the works, but no decision has been made.

The Blue Jays open the regular season on Saturday August 27th at Lima Central Catholic.
