Lima Sixth Ward Councilman Derry Glenn has helped organize a back-to-school giveaway event for the thirteenth year in a row. In the evening, there will be a teacher appreciation banquet from 5 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham.

A sea of student helpers in orange shirts greets the freshmen as they pull up alongside their new home for the next year. Although starting college can come with its challenges, Ohio Northern University has tried to create an exciting week to allow students to celebrate starting the next chapter of their lives.
48-year-old Cory Taylor has been charged with possession of cocaine, which is a first-degree felony. After being pulled over on Northridge Road near Interstate Court around 1:38 a.m., Findlay police found over 38 grams of what they believe is cocaine. Taylor also had an active bench warrant for his arrest through the Lucas County Sheriff's Office.
Janice M. Wilson has been in a wheelchair for eight years, and her previous ramp had become rundown, but her sister knew of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" so they contacted Glenn. Through the donations of others and the work of Mr. Installer's contractor, she is now able to leave her house with more ease.
The program will reward volunteers aged 60 and older for their time spent at the West Ohio Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. Participants enrolled in the program who complete 100 or more volunteer hours at these locations within a year's time will be granted a tuition voucher for three free undergraduate credit hours at OSU.
Manchester has been a representative since 2019 and recently announced her decision to run for the Ohio State Senate. After work on the state budget wrapped up on June 30th, Manchester has been visiting local organizations in the district, such as the lima exchange club, to update citizens about the work accomplished during the first six months of the general assembly.
The free festival takes place from Friday to Sunday and will feature nearly 50 hot air balloons, including a returning favorite in the space cowboy. In addition to the balloons, attendees can find musical performances, a kids' zone with inflatables and a petting zoo, craft beer tasting, and food vendors. The classic car and motorcycle show will also be making a return this year. Kellie Bibler, the marketing chair, says it attracts people near and far, with people even coming in from out of state to see the balloons.
