May 28, 2024, Press Release from Ohio Department of Transportation District 1: LIMA, Ohio - (May 28, 2024) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will implement a safety project at U.S. 30 and Defiance Trail, just east of the city of Delphos on Thursday, May 30.
The project will remove the median, limiting motorists to right turns onto and off the highway. The change will reduce the risk of severe crashes and fatalities.
“Crashes at intersections like this one along high-speed routes are often catastrophic,” said Chris Hughes, District 1 deputy director. “By limiting access, we're steering traffic towards a safer alternative at State Route 309 and saving lives,” he said.
The decision to close the medians was made in coordination with local officials.
On Thursday, barrels and barricades will be placed across the median of the intersection. Soon, ODOT crews will begin removing the pavement between the eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 30.
Signs on U.S. 30 and the local roads approaching the intersections will be modified to reflect the change in access.

On Thursday, May 30, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will barrel off the median at U.S. 30 and Defiance Trail. The move will improve safety by limiting access to right turns only.
