LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Volunteers with All Starr Pet Rescue braved the cold to distribute thousands of pounds of pet food to hundreds of area pet owners, continuing a project they say is near and dear to their hearts.

The rescue partners with the West Ohio Food Bank and sets up food distributions whenever supplies are available. The goal is to help families ensure their pets are fed during difficult times. Cars began lining up as early as 7 a.m. for the 10 a.m. drive-through distribution. Pet owners were able to receive dog and cat food for their family pets.

Michele Tvenstrup with All Starr Pet Rescue said the organization wants people to know help is available. "We just want to make sure that you know if you're struggling and you need help with your pets, to make sure they're fed, to reach out to the rescues that we can probably help you if you are in need."
