LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Bluffton continued its push toward the .500 mark on the season with a dominant home win over Lima Central Catholic, rolling past the Thunderbirds 52-11 in NWC girls basketball action.
LCC found itself in an early hole, trailing 8-0 before freshman Corie Schnieders put the Thunderbirds on the board. Schnieders attacked the rim, drew contact, and completed the three-point play at the free-throw line.
Bluffton answered right back behind junior Greta Myers, who knocked down a three-pointer to showcase her shooting range. Myers led all scorers with 15 points on the night.
The Pirates stayed aggressive in the second quarter as sophomore Maelee Miller made a strong move around her defender for the finish. Miller provided a big spark offensively, finishing with 14 points.
Moments later, Miller found Taylin Goldman inside, where the junior turned and scored to keep Bluffton firmly in control.
The Pirates added to their lead with defense turning into offense. Senior Blair Utendorf jumped the passing lane, intercepted the ball, and went coast-to-coast for an easy layup.
Bluffton’s balanced attack and defensive pressure proved too much to overcome as the Pirates cruised to the 52-11 victory. Lima Central Catholic continues its search for a first conference win.
