The numbers are looking good and local health officials are hopeful that will continue.
Allen County Public Health is reporting that cases numbers are steadily going down. There have been only 50 reported cases in the last week, with 3 deaths and 11 hospitalizations. Although numbers are down, we are still considered a high transmission rate.
Allen County Health Commissioner Brandon Fischer explains, "We’re at a high transmission rate because of our positivity rate. So, our case rate is down to 70 per 100,000 over a week period of time. If our positivity rate continues to drop and we can get out of that high rate of spread the recommendation to remove the mask is once you get under 50 cases per 100,000 over a course of a week and have a positivity rate under 8%."
To get to that level he urges everyone to keep up with social distancing, hand washing, and masking in crowded areas.
