May 8, 2024, Press Release from the Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commission: LIMA—In an effort to bring awareness and advocacy for seatbelt safety, the Allen County Safe Communities Coalition is hosting a time for area residents, first-responders and local officials to join in partnership as they kick off the Click It or Ticket campaign in Allen County.

On Thursday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Bath Township Fire Department – 1787 N. Dixie Hwy. Lima, Chief Joe Kitchen will address the public by discussing seatbelt and child restraint safety, seatbelt statistics, and what the current laws are regarding seatbelt usage. It is free and open to the public. Light refreshments donated by Sara’s Sweets will be served, and seatbelt safety materials will be available.

This event is the local kickoff to the national seatbelt campaign. In Allen County, several area schools will be participating in the seatbelt awareness campaign by hosting teen seatbelt compliance checks and elementary seatbelt safety demonstrations.
