Board members and the airport manager explained that the facility provides more than just a place for private aircraft to land and refuel. They have instructors and tests to get people their pilot's license. Air Force One has also landed there four times, allowing presidents to easily visit, most recently Donald Trump in 2019. The airport also facilitates the transport of surgeons and donor organs for extremely time-sensitive surgeries and allows for 1-day business travel.

Airport officials say that about 32,000 flights take off from the Allen County Airport every year.

"One of the main things that people think about is business and jobs, and we serve the local communities. There's jets flying in and out of here all of the time. You don't know it; you don't see it, but we see it out at the airport. They're flying in CEOs; they're flying in technicians," stated Larry Webb, board director at the Allen County Airport Authority.
