LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The 2025 GenNext Makers Camp wrapped up on Thursday.
All week, students explored careers in STEM and manufacturing through hands-on experiences at local businesses and organizations. They spent the afternoon at Hover Park, where they tested soil and identified wetland plants with Terracon environmental consultants. It was the final stop after a week of touring Lima's workplaces.
“We would just like to thank all of our partners that have come along beside us. The Bradfield, who has provided lunch for us every single day, the RTA who has done transportation, just everyone who has allowed us to come into their business and probably disrupt them for an hour or two. But we’re feeding into our youth so they can see what they can be in the future,” said Amber Martin, workforce development coordinator, city of Lima.
Organizers say they're already planning for next year's camp, and they hope to keep growing partnerships across Lima.
