LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The ABLE incorporation invited community members to voice their thoughts on the potential addition of Class 2 residential Care Facilities.

Also known as Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, ABLE wanted to hear back from the Allen County community on residential care facilities, the concerns, and the current experiences. By opening the floor up to current residents, operators, and advocates, ABLE could learn more about Allen County's current state for housing.

ABLE hosts community listening session on residential care facilities in Allen County

ABLE says, "Strong, sustainable housing should be built with the community, not for the community."

"So, we need to know that this is what the community wants, right? We ourselves can see the need, but if the community doesn't agree with us, we need to step back because it's the community that is the one voice that we actually truly need to listen to in order to make decisions and move in the way the community wants us to move," says Christy Ortiz, managing attorney at ABLE.

This community listening session is a great way to get input from the community. Having a meeting in person helps everyone benefit from the experience, whether that be residents of Allen County, or members of ABLE.
