LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Back in 1981, Tim Estes and Dave Winters — both floor layers — started T&D Interiors.

A few years later, they hired Brad Selover to help with ceiling work.

Today, Brad's sons, Blake and Troy, are part of the business. They joined the company in 2006 and 2007 after growing up around it.

“It was never pushed on me as a kid. My parents never pushed it, but it was something. As I matured and got older, I realized it was something that I wanted to get into. It’s really all I’ve ever known,” said Troy Selover, general manager of T&D Interiors.

In the early years, T&D Interiors traveled across the country for work.

Now, Selover says the company has a stronger focus on projects closer to home, including work at local schools and businesses.

“We’re currently working at the Target store doing the acoustical ceilings throughout there, and I know that is close to home to a lot of us. We also, probably nearest to my heart, we did the Elida Elementary School a few years ago. That was pretty neat because a lot of us that work here went to Elida and we enjoyed being a part of that, and I have kids there as well, so that was pretty special to us.”

That connection to the community extends beyond the work they do.

T&D Interiors sponsors community events and programs, as well as youth sports.

Selover says that support has come back to the business through the people who continue to choose them.

“It’s funny, when we go to conventions and we talk to different contractors and retailers, we feel like our customer base is different than bigger cities and other communities. Our customer base is very loyal. We live in a very loyal community and we’re proud of that. A lot of our business is return customers, so we really appreciate and enjoy seeing people come back in the door.”

Selover says that loyalty — both from customers and the community — starts with the people who make up the company.

“Like any business, you have to have a group of people that come together and work together for a community that you support and supports you. I mean, we wouldn’t be anything without our team, nor would we be anything without our customers.”

This is just the first spotlight on T&D Interiors.

We’ll hear more from the company as we continue our America 250: Hometown Proud series.
