BATH TOWNSHIP, ALLEN COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) - Two new members were sworn in Tuesday night to serve on the Bath Township Board of Trustees.

Brad Baxter, who is beginning his third term as a Bath Township trustee, and former Lima Fire Chief Andy Heffner took the oath of office, filling the two open seats on the board. Trustees also voted to appoint Baxter as chair of the board.

Following the meeting, both newly appointed trustees spoke about their ambitions and outlined work plans aimed at better serving Bath Township.

Baxter, Heffner take oath as Bath Township Trustees

"One of my focuses is going to be on zoning for Bath Township," says Brad Baxter, Bath Township Trustee. "This year, we hope to complete and update our long-term plan for our zoning for Bath Township, and that's a priority for me and get more involved in that aspect of township business."

"2026: I just want to understand the job. I mean, it's a very high learning curve," says Andy Heffner, Bath Township Trustee. "I think it's a continuation of being a firefighter and the fire chief because it's service, and I think I developed a skill set, as the fire chief, budgeting, working with people and I think that skill set transfers over to be a trustee, so I just want to continue on with my service."

Also during the meeting, Berlin Carroll II was sworn in to serve as Bath Township’s fiscal officer. In addition, Trustee Lisa Fillhart was appointed to serve as the board’s vice chair.
