Card collectors and fitness fans find holiday gifts at Lima small businesses

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Small businesses are gearing up for increased traffic as the holiday season approaches.

Clay Cards opened its new location at 1400 Allentown Road this week, and the shop is ready to help fill wish lists for sports or Pokémon card collectors. The hobby has grown in popularity in recent years.

“It's grown exponentially in the last 5,6,7 years, especially ever since, you know, covid, and everybody kind of sitting around home and getting back into what they what they loved as a kid. More people are getting into it again, just stuff that they they saw as a kid and either couldn't afford back then, and now it's obtainable, and a lot of nostalgia,” said Clay Plaugher, owner of Clay Cards.

In the same building, Ride & Reform is offering a different kind of holiday gift — the gift of health. The cycling studio sells packages that provide customers with a set number of classes, making it a potential present with lasting benefits.

“So, cycling is considered a little bit more low impact compared to if you were running. As someone who has athletic injuries and can no longer run, but still wants to stay active, cycling is a great choice, and everybody loves doing it in a studio versus at home by yourself,” said Kyla Plaugher, owner of Ride & Reform.

And for those who missed out on Black Friday, there are still plenty of opportunities to shop on Small Business Saturday.
