LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima/Allen County Chamber’s Nonprofit Award honors organizations that are improving the lives of their clients and the quality of life for Allen County residents. Here are the finalist for this year's award.

Heir Force Community School is not only dedicated to educating students in kindergarten through eighth grade but also is promoting community service and character development in their students. The school works with other nonprofits and governmental agencies to help expand the educational opportunities of their students. Their dedication has earned them high marks, and they are ranked in the top 11 percent of charter and community schools in Ohio.

Family Promise continues its mission to help homeless families achieve and maintain their independence by working with them to secure employment and housing. They work with other organizations to help families with their everyday needs. In 2024, they assisted 66 families, with a total of 98 children, to get stable housing. Their volunteers help their clients by making meals, teaching job readiness workshops, and offering tutoring assistance for the children.

The Bradfield Community Association is helping all ages through its health, education, and recreational programming. They have 70 members in their newly established Boys and Girls Club, with all of them on track to graduate high school with a plan for their future. Bradfield helps the Lima community by finding ways to address critical needs for adults, children, and families with solutions that result in positive change for the area.

The winner of the Nonprofit Award will be announced at the Chamber Gala on May 8th.
