LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — It was looking a lot like winter inside the Welcome Center at Lima Memorial Health System, where more than a dozen handmade snowmen are on display this week.
Each snowman was crafted by a different hospital department, showcasing creativity, teamwork and holiday spirit. The pharmacy built a snowman out of empty pill bottles, financial services created a money-themed snowman, radiology designed a transparent snowman to highlight “what's inside matters,” and the rehab department assembled an accident-prone, fall-risk snowman. All of the entries were part of the Snowman Showdown, an idea developed by the Engaged Committee of the hospital’s Human Resources department.
“Do you see all these snowmen around me for departments that signed up their department, they created some fun snowmen, and then we're voting for them, and then the winning department will get a prize. So just to kind of get the departments in the holiday spirit and kind of celebrate the holidays and get creative and work together, just to do a fun activity here at work,” said Lauren Lammers, HRIS specialist.
Participants had to follow specific rules, including building a snowman between two and five feet tall, props included. Themes were encouraged, and organizers said teams thought outside the box and had fun creating their displays.
