March 17, 2025, Press Release from the Delphos Police Department:
On 3-09-2025 officers spoke with a male, in the 1200 block of Erie St, who reported that scrap metal was stolen from his backyard.
On 3-09-2025 officers responded to the 1600 block of E. 5th St. to investigate an alarm activation at a business.
On 3-10-2025 were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Cleveland St, for the report of a possible gunshot in the area.
On 3-10-2025 a female came to the police department to report that her son was threatening to harm himself and was walking to a location to carry out his plan. Officers located the male on Bank St, and after a short struggle, were able to take him into custody. The male was transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation.
On 3-10-2025 a female called the police department to report items stolen from her residence. The female told officers that another female was visiting her residence, and the items were found missing after she left.
On 3-10-2025 a female called to report that her vehicle had just been struck by farm equipment being pulled by a vehicle. The caller stated that the other vehicle was not stopping. A short time later the suspect vehicle was located, and the case was turned over to a Deputy from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office as the crash happened on State Rd, near Defiance Trl.
On 3-11-2025 a male requested assistance from officers in removing unwanted tenants from his rental property. Officers advised the male of the proper eviction process.
On 3-11-2025 a male told officers that two dogs chased him out into the street in the 200 block of E. 5th St. The dogs owner was located and he was given a warning for his dogs running at large.
On 3-12-2025 officers spoke with employees at a business on W. 5th St, who reported suspicious activity taking place in the parking lot.
On 3-12-2025 officers responded to a business in the 300 block of N. Main St, to investigate an alarm activation.
On 3-12-2025 officers located a female, 37-year-old Kayla Hesseling, of Delphos, who had an active warrant for Failure to Appear on a previous charge. Hesseling was taken into custody and transported to the Van Wert County jail.
On 3-12-2025 officers were dispatched to the Loves Truck Stop to investigate a private property crash. The two drivers exchanged insurance information.
On 3-13-2025 officers spoke with a female in the 500 block of W. 4th St, who reported her juvenile daughter missing. Officers took a report and entered the juvenile into a national database as missing. The juvenile, who had been in contact with her mother, returned home later that evening.
On 3-13-2025 officers spoke with a female in the 1100 block of N. Main St, who reported that a protection order, that she has in place on a male, had been violated. The male was repeatedly contacting her.
On 3-14-2025 officers were dispatched to a residence on W. Clime St, to investigate the discovery of a deceased male. The death appeared to be of natural causes.
On 3-14-2025 officers were sent to a business in the 200 block of Elida Rd, for an altercation involving a customer and an employee. Officers spoke with both parties and the dispute was ended.
On 3-14-2025 a male came to the police department to report that his cell phone was stolen while he was at work.
On 3-14-2025 officers received a complaint that a juvenile was sexually assaulted by another juvenile approximately one year ago. The case is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.
On 3-15-2025 officers spoke with a male who reported that another male is violating a protection order that was placed on him by a female. The female confirmed that the male was in violation of the protection order. Officers were able to determine that the order has not been served on the male yet, but he was contacted and advised not to contact the female.
On 3-15-2025 officers received complaints of dirt bikes being driven on Moening St.
On 3-15-2025 officers were dispatched to the 100 block of W. 2nd St, for a Domestic Disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke with a female who stated that her husband left after the two had a disagreement. The male was located and after speaking with both it was determined that no physical violence had occurred.
