ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) - It's never too early to test the waters to figure out what you want to be when you grow up. That's what 5th graders at Elida Elementary were doing on Friday as part of a career fair.
Representatives from seven local professions stopped by, including everything from a firefighter and contractor to an eye doctor and veterinarian. The goal was to broaden the student's views on potential jobs after high school and hear what education and job training that career path requires.

The hope is the students can learn even more through the Career Connections program by the time they get to middle school.
"A lot of the things that that are important for that training happen at this age, and the responsibility of it is important, and just kind of preparing, setting those goals, knowing what those goals are that they want to attain, and how important it is, even at the elementary age, to work towards those goals," said Monica Donley, 5th grade teacher at Elida Elementary.
Our own meteorologist Conner Prince was one of the professionals on hand, teaching students about everything from severe weather to how local radars track the weather that rolls through our area.
